Thoughts:   Young Celtic warrior Arthfael joins up with hermit wizard Myrrdin to take on an evil wizard.

So why not just call the main characters Arthur and Merlin from the outset?

Let's put that aside as this is a decent film. Yes, the story is quite straight and fairly predictable, but the two leads are strong and work off each other very well.

They are given the tools to do so, and then do. That's just as well as a lot of the story revolves around them and how they come together to conquer evil.

There aren't huge sweeping battles and so forth, instead the focus is all on them.

You have to approach this sort of film in a certain way as the package and the accolades suggest something epic - it's not. But it is a decently crafted take on a classic tale.
