Thoughts:   This is the third in the five-film Mythica series as Marek, a wizard leaning towards Necromancy, battles her inner turmoils as well as the would-be God Szorlok.

I have to admit having a soft spot for this series and the great work of lead Stone is a big part of that.

Yes, this is a very cliched quest film with a band consisting of a warrior, wizard, thief and cleric. And it is not exactly high budget. And of course we all know good will win in the end.

But the four main quest actors all do their bit, making the most of an average story and some often poor dialogue.

The characters do come across as real people and interact in a fairly realistic way. That said, I can't help but feel there will be someone in the background shouting "gotta roll a fifteen or more to make the jump across the ditch" or something similar.

I do detest some utterly cliched RPG set plays that do appear - the inn where you can pick up quests, or the use of "gold" as a generic catch-all for money, as examples - but in terms of converting a game-like setting to the screen, this does a good job.

This edition keeps the narrative progressing fairly well and navigates some of the obvious traps along the way.
