Richard The Lionheart

Title: Richard The Lionheart (15)

Year: 2013

Running Time: 100 minutes

Director: Stefano Milla

Cast: Greg Maness (Richard The Lionheart), Burton Perez (Basileus), Malcolm McDowell (King Henry II)

Notes: Won three awards.

Rating: 1

Thoughts:   King Henry II tests his son Richard by imprisoning him and sending a range of adversaries against him.

This is an odd film and whilst the main characters are real people, it is fairly unbelievable.

Regardless of how good anything else is, when a story is so confused as this one it is onto a bad thing. The acting mostly isn't great and the fight scenes poor.

Parts just seem to have been added for effect and add nothing. It's just odd.

Perhaps the makers should be applauded for their bold interpretation but it still needs to come over as something comprehensible. It's more akin to an episode of The Prisoner than what was expected.
